The scent of a larch: collecting turpentine
A precious resin extracted from the tree
With a local guide, after a walk through the woods of Val di Pejo, you can witness the ritual of harvesting turpentine, the precious resin extracted from the trunk of a larch tree. Similar to honey in consistency and color, yet completely different and possessing natural healing powers. The activity takes place in the woods near Covel or in the Celentino area of Stelvio National Park. Turpentine harvesting can be done from June to September, and larch is the only tree that allows resin to be produced from a single hole throughout its life. Other trees require a new hole for each extraction. Your guide will explain in detail the extraction phases and techniques, the tools needed for collection, and will illustrate all the properties of this precious resin. Duration
