At night, the path slowly ascends, opening onto the high-altitude meadows. A mountain hut, a fragrant dinner of polenta and strudel, to soften the tingling of autumn nights. The stars that dot the sky, the fir trees chattering with the whisper of the wind. In this quiet, suddenly, lulled by the black belly of the night, a sound. A deep, imposing, rapid call. The deer defends his beloved. Powerful and vibrant, on the other side of the mountain, another responds. It is the moment of love. It is the moment of the bellowing. In the chaotic silence of nature, a figure moves across the prairie, it is the deer, a massive male with sharp antlers and his head turned toward the moon. In the deep darkness we observe him with the thermal imaging camera that allows us to color the heat of their bodies; we remain stationed, watching this song and feeling this lightning-fast passion.

What's included
The experience includes the use of an infrared thermal imaging camera, provided by the Park. The thermal imaging camera will show you images by projecting them directly onto a monitor, thus avoiding the need to physically share the equipment with other participants. To walk safely in the woods at night, you will need a headlamp. We encourage you to bring your own. If you don't have one, the Park will provide one and disinfect it before providing it. The fee also includes dinner at a mountain hut, where you will have the opportunity to discuss wildlife with the Stelvio National Park's wildlife expert.Who is it for?

Stelvio National Park is the largest Italian park in the Alpine region: it spans four provinces (Trento, Bolzano, Sondrio, and Brescia) and two regions (Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige). In the evocative setting of the forest in early autumn, the silence of the Alpine valleys is interrupted by the mighty bellowing of the deer.
